SEWARD ROOM
The Seward Room provides a large heated
meeting room with comfortable seating, which is served
by a splendid kitchen and toilets. It has wheel chair
access and is an excellent facility for St. Mary’s, for
the local and indeed the larger community.
It remains a popular venue
and the number of bookings has increased this year.
Happily, income is back up to previous levels.
The Seward Room is a venue and meeting
place for the P.C.C., Deanery meetings, the Bell
Ringers, the very popular Post Office complete with tea
and a chat on Friday afternoons and many St. Mary’s
church based events. These, although not bringing in
any income, are on the increase and provide a wonderful
support for the church and the community.
The range of events has increased: we
are delighted to welcome back the Lion & Unicorn Players
as a rehearsal venue for their coming Spring Production;
Buriton Tennis Club ladies have become regular users
for entertaining the visiting teams; and the number of
‘external’ general bookings is increasing - ‘Away Days’,
‘Quiet Days’, ‘Training Days’, school visits and
concerts. We have a lot of return visits, particularly
from the Portsmouth area, who so enjoy coming to our
lovely village and find the Seward Room ideally suited
to their purposes. There are two concerts already booked
for the coming year. We also look forward to a repeat of
the Cream Teas for Charity in the summer and other
events supporting our link with Ghana.
As an excellent venue in an idyllic
setting, and being very reasonably priced, we look
forward to welcoming an ever increasing number of new
friends to the Seward Room. Please telephone 01730
