DEANERY SYNOD

Mary Owens and Ian Johnston continue to be our representatives at Deanery Synod and Ian is also your representative on the Deanery Pastoral Committee. Synod met four times during the year in February, May, September and November at Greatham, West Meon, Blackmore and Sheet, respectively.

Presentations were received from Philip Cockrane on the work of the Diocesan Liturgy and Worship Advisory Group, The Dean of Portsmouth on ‘Why have a Cathedral?’ and Wendy Kennedy the Diocesan Secretary on Diocesan Finances. The Deanery Pastoral Committee has a very important role as it is considering new patterns of ministry in the wake of the potential reduction in the number of stipendiary clergy in the deanery and the filling of the vacancies at St Peter’s and Bramshott and Liphook.
